SPOT NEWS PHOTOGRAPHY- is a current (in that time) important news event that you happen to catch on film or digital camera, that may be happening in that area.

GENERAL NEWS PHOTOGRAPHY- is just basic news that happens everyday. It can be anything from the score on a high schools last football game to President Obama winning the election.

Conclusion
There isn't really much of a difference between the two different types of photojournalism. I could hardly find out any information online about "Spot News", so this was kind of hard to do. To find the right picture & not have any knowledge on whether or not it is the right image. But I did learn that when you take a news type of photo, you either get general news or spot news because they are the major types you find in any newspaper or magazine.
